What sustainability means to us

Greetings, coffee lovers!

At Nomad, we're more than just passionate about brewing the perfect cup of coffee—we're also deeply committed to protecting the planet. Today, we want to talk about exactly what environmental sustainability means to us, and we brought some numbers to help!

Our mission over the past two years has been to save 100,000 single use coffee cups from entering landfills and waterways around BC. With Nomad being Canada’s only BYOC (Bring Your Own Cup) coffee shop we knew that it would take some time for our customers to get used to the concept. We have been extraordinarily lucky to have such a kind and understanding community around us that the goal of 100,000 cups saved is now within our grasp.

100,000 Cups can be a hard concept to grasp so we have broken it down a bit. 100,000 cups saved means:

  • 3,684kg of CO2 reduction is equivalent to planting approximately 148 trees.

  • 330kg plastic is equivalent to saving approximately 55,000 plastic bags.

  • 94780MJ energy saving is equivalent to burning approximately 2,500 liters of gasoline.

  • Washing approximately 9,500 loads of laundry.

  • Vacuuming for approximately 22,000 hours.

  • 2,250kg of timber is equivalent to saving 500,000 sheets of paper.

When you break it down into more digestible chunks of information you can begin to see the true impact that such a small change every day can make. We would love to thank each one of fantastic customers for their continued support as well as our dedicated staff. We are almost there lets hit this goal together!
